Fredrik Halland

Fredrik is Norwegian from the city of Bergen. He started playing the guitar at the age of seven. He learned his first cords from his father, Frank, who is a Bass player, and started taking lessons at the age of nine with the well-known guitarist from Norway, Mads Eriksen. He was then introduced to the blues and Stevie Ray Vaughan became his biggest inspiration. Since then he has listened to many great guitarists in different styles and genres.

 

Fredrik had his first TV appearance in Norway at the age of 12. Since then he has been travelling along with his Band performing in Scandinavia, Europe and USA in different showcases, workshops, venues and Festivals.

 

Fredrik has just begun work on his new album scheduled to be released prior to Christmas 2011.

Fredrik Halland Reaches Finals in Guitar Player Guitar Superstar Event

Fredrik Halland has been selected as one of five Nationally to compete in the final round of Guitar Player Magazine’s Guitar Superstar Competition to be held on July 23 at the Summer NAMM “Wanna Play Music Day” event in Nashville, TN.

Fredrik will take a break from his GIT classes to perform before a panel of judges including Carl Verheyen, Reeves Gabrels, and Muriel Anderson as well as event host and Guitar Player “Certified Legend Award” recipient, Larry Carlton. The 2011 champion will win a one-album deal on Guitar Player Records (distributed by MI5 Recordings/Universal) as well as a generous gear package from the event’s sponsors.

Fredrik is currently a student at the Musicians Institute at the GIT program in California.
